Request Summary: I am seeking records on the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Security Service (also identified as I Directorate - Security and Intelligence, among other titles). Specifically, I am seeking the numbers of personnel in the RCMP Security Service AND numbers within its constituent sections (eg. D Ops, I Ops, J Ops, etc.) in the period 1945 to 1985. During the four decades I’m seeking records for, the RCMP Security Service had subdivisions within it that performed specialized duties: A Ops - Security screening of civil servants / B Ops - Counterintelligence (monitoring foreign spies) / C Ops - I’m not sure if this always existed and what specific functions it had / D Ops - Domestic dissent and subversion / E Ops - POSSIBLE F Ops - POSSIBLE G Ops - Quebec nationalists/terrorists / H Ops- Asian counterintelligence (might not have existed until 1949) / I Ops - Surveillance specialists (watchers) / J Ops - Technical surveillance, telephone wire-tapping / K Ops - POSSIBLE L Ops - Human source development. Sometimes the subdivisions were referred to as “branches”. Eg. G Ops is also referred to in secondary sources as G-branch in the 1960s and early 1970s
